MLBTR Poll: What Was The Best Offseason Move?

MLBTradeRumors.com held a poll this week, asking fans what the best move of the offseason was in Major League Baseball, here are the results:

As you can see above, the Nationals signing of Jayson Werth did not rank very high among the readership of MLBTR. This isn’t much of a surprise however, as both fans and experts alike know that the Nationals overpaid to get him to Washington. Many Nats fans viewed the move as a must, a tax the club had to pay to become relevant and be taken seriously in free-agency. Others say the club set a bad precedent for other 30-year-olds on the free-agent market.

The White Sox signing of Adam Dunn received 3.09 percent of the vote, meaning it was ranked a better move than the Werth signing.

Two of the more popular moves of the winter involved two players the Nationals were actively trying to acquire, Cliff Lee and Zack Greinke. Both of these starters have instantly changed the projected fates of their team. The Brewers went from a possible .500 team to a playoff contender, and the Phillies went from a team trying to win the National League East to a favorite to win the World Series. Both of them were long shots to come to Washington, although it would be very interesting to see how different the landscape of spring training would be in Viera right now if one of them had come to the Nats.
