Spring Game Round Up 2: Detwiler Sharp In Debut

The Nats (2-0) topped the Mets (1-2-1) 5-3 in Port St. Lucie today.

A Few Notes:

Mike Morse continued his hot hitting today, going 2-2 with a pair of singles. Morse went 3-5 with two home runs and four RBI in yesterday’s game. The utilityman worked hard this offseason with batting coach Rick Eckstein…we’ll see how long it lasts.

Ross Detwiler, looking to pitch his way into the starting rotation this spring, pitched tossed two scoreless innings in his spring debut. The lefty struck out three batters and allowed tow hits. His new mechanics have people excited, but again, it’s real early.

Cris Marrero, who many believe must take the next step in his development this season, went 2-2 with a pair of singles. Marrero will need to improve his power and his consistency to get a call-up this year.

Danny Espinosa hit a two run homer off of Alvarez in the fourth inning.

Bryce Harper notched his first hit of the spring with a single.
