Stephen Strasburg on Ian Desmond, Taylor Jordan

On Ian Desmond’s leadership role: “He’s a general out there on the field. He’s a guy that has learned through playing this game for a few years how to stay steady and stay even keel, and just to have that guy in the clubhouse to lean on, it’s huge for a lot of the young guys, including myself. He wasn’t always like that, you know? When he first came up, I remember he was really intense. You could really tell one bad at-bat affected him. And now, I think it’s great, because you wouldn’t even know if he went 0-for-4 or 4-for-4. He’s the same guy either way.”

On meeting Taylor Jordan for the first time: “…When I signed, he was one of the first guys I met. We’re out there doing PFP and everything, and he comes up to me and he’s like ‘I thought you were left-handed.’ He’s an interesting guy, you know.” He went on to say, “It’s awesome to see Taylor get to this point in his career, and I’m excited to see what he has.”
