Sammy Solis: International Man of Mystery

Mina Dunn January 16, 2017 2016 Articles Leave a Comment

The only trip Sammy Solis took during the 2016 season was to the DL, preventing him from contributing on the mound or to Washington’s playoff clinch celebration. The offseason has been much more kind to him in terms of vacation spots.

The lefty reliever first traveled across Europe during the early weeks of November, leaving days before the election. Because like Superman and more importantly Nanny McPhee, when we needed him most, he disappeared. Thankfully, he posted 13 Instagram pictures to ease the stress. The pictures reference Guinness beer twice (there is no indication of whether the hammer became the hammered), and only induce fear for his life once.

Sammy also made his way to Bryce Harper’s hometown of Las Vegas, against the advice of his older sister LouAnn, to count down to the new year on the Las Vegas strip. How much blame can really be placed on Sammy for ignoring his sister’s warning? Who wouldn’t want to spend midnight as close to Bryce as possible? It’s probably good hair karma for the new year or something.

As the best unofficial “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you about traveling to Las Vegas, you’re smarter than I could ever be,” gift, Sammy planned a tropical getaway for LouAnn’s 30th birthday. Sammy, LouAnn and friends arrived in Maui just about a week after New Year’s Day. This, I’m pretty sure, guarantees him a top-five finish in the BBWAA voting for the best brother award.

TFW you’re holding SpongeBob’s house.

LouAnn posted far more pictures of the getaway than her younger brother. To see her pictures, you can request to follow her here.
