Jayson Werth’s Stand-In Mom Returns

You might remember this little fan’s reaction to Jayson Werth getting hit in the elbow at Coors Field in 2016.

How could you not? She absolutely loses it and it is absolutely me every time the Nats bullpen blows it. She cares about the safety of Werth’s elbow more than I care about my whole life. Her animation has been missed in the months since her response was first recorded. Just like Batman, our small, lively hero has returned. And she’s back with autographed photos.

Dan Kolko, the only man equipped to get the scoop on such hard-hitting news, reported that she brought Werth a signed photo of the reaction. The tiny fan included her address because her class is doing pen pals, and c’mon, Werth for sure has great stories from the road.

“Dear Abigail, baseball is more often friendly to us than our own prudence. I am not without suspicion that CB Bucknor is trying to kill me.”

The fan was shown with her parents over the course of Monday night’s broadcast. First, cameras captured her looking thrilled about Werth working a 3-1 count then drawing the walk. She was shown with Werth’s bat. Most important, she was shown sprinting back up the stadium steps after being delivered a ball sent by Werth just after he made this catch.

Hopefully she left before the bullpen was called in. That kind of performance is not suitable for children.
