Nats, Caps Make DC Walkoff City

This morning, Max Scherzer confirmed to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan that he and the Nats would be attending Saturday’s Washington Capitals Game 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Great time in DC Sports. @Max_Scherzer tells us he & several #Nats players will be attending tomorrow night’s @Capitals Game-2 in DC.

Thursday night the Caps overcame a 2-0 first period deficit to force the game into overtime, during which Pure Goal Scorer and Not Modern-Day Enforcer Tom Wilson sent a bullet into the top left corner of the goal against Anderson to, uh, walk them off the ice.

I mean, just look at Jay Beagle’s face.

What Scherzer didn’t know, is that his team would continue the streak of DC sports walk-offs on a Daniel Murphy double in the tenth. The only other streak that needs to be continued is a National wearing a large cowboy hat at team outing to a Caps game.

Many Nationals, including Ryan Zimmerman, have claimed hockey as their second favorite sport, and Nats are always vocal about their support. The team does, however, share its connection to the Caps with the Baltimore Orioles, whose players wore Caps shirts before their game Thursday. I’m guessing this is what Russian Machine Never Breaks created #NatriolesMagictude for.
