Guess what’s back. Back again. The recap’s back. Tell a friend. (It’s the recap, the off-field recap is back).
Adam Lind home run trotted his way into his first season with the Nats. The home run trot was yielded by a first-swing, pinch-hit, go-ahead homer. As memorable as it and the ensuing celebration will be, manager Dusty Baker admitted to having trouble separating Lind from New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin during Monday’s postgame interview. If Dusty keeps forgetting the D like this he’s going to have very brittle bones.
Then this in clubhouse as Dusty/Lind cross paths:
Dusty: Alright, Jeremy.
Lind: You know my name’s Adam?
Dusty: Did I call you Jeremy again? https://t.co/nh6oy5Nuwm— Eddie Matz (@ESPNeddiematz) April 3, 2017
This week’s Trends of the Season should be sufficient preparation for this clip of Daniel Murphy’s son taking BP post opening day curly-w in the outfield, but if not, now is the time to center yourself before proceeding.

We are getting closer and closer to the real dream of Nats babies fielding their own lineup.
The trend of Nats kids doing baseball stuff was continued with Little Loby. The handful of Instagrams Jose Lobaton posted of his son’s T-ball game induced a real roller coaster of emotion. Little Loby suffers a fall and then succeeds in the face of adversity by recording an out at home with an anti-Javy Baez tag. Little Loby brings the ride to an end, bat flipping with the intentions of a Yasiel Puig celebration and the result of a Manny Machado temper tantrum.
It turned out that the Donald Trump protesters at Nats Park on Opening Day were calling for resistance of Trump’s prioritization of presidential duties over baseball. The protesters, sources say, are also avid resisters of logic.

A Very Good Baseball Bunny evaded capture in the Nats dugout for an hour on Opening Day before workers brought the adventure to an end. Have we learned nothing from Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor?

Some early amusement from the #Nats game, a rabbit had made its way into the Marlins dugout, as often happens in #Baseball @Nationals pic.twitter.com/Vik18budUJ

Bob Carpenter’s call of Bryce Harper’s first-inning bomb against the Phillies was outdone by the perfunctory narration of a (possibly?) Phillies fan whose guts could be felt sinking through the video he tweeted. It is now imperative that I hear this man color-commentate every future Nats-Phillies game. (The following video is NSFW and Not Safe for Phillies Fans).
So I just got Bryce Harper’s home run on video. pic.twitter.com/LY2vckCvza

Missed you, baseball.
